Turning a career record into evidence I can use.
A personal tool for capturing work, connecting evidence, and preparing for career conversations.
What needed to work.
Work accumulates across projects, messages, documents, and memory. A résumé compresses that record, while a review or interview needs the decisions, contribution, and evidence behind each outcome. I wanted a tool I could keep using as my career evolved.
The ownership I brought.
- Defined the purpose: track current work, record outcomes, connect evidence, and prepare for reviews, promotion discussions, and interviews.
- Provided career dossiers, a résumé, and firsthand project context, then directed the structure, positioning, and content revisions.
- Used ChatGPT and Codex for implementation, with feedback on repetition, recruiter usefulness, factual accuracy, and the distinction between private notes and shareable examples.
- Specified role and work preferences, evidence-rich case studies, interview examples, and a separate private compensation floor.
Decisions that shaped the work.
Give each audience the information it needs.
My working record includes projects, wins, supporting sources, and preparation notes. The recruiter experience presents selected case studies, career history, qualifications, and role preferences. New workspace notes are not automatically published.
Make the evidence reusable.
The workspace links wins to projects and evidence and lets me select records for an editable review, promotion, or interview brief. The portfolio organizes curated examples by the capability a reader wants to assess.
Be clear about AI’s contribution.
I directed the purpose, supplied the source material, and iterated on the result. ChatGPT and Codex assisted with writing and implementation. The current brief builder assembles editable drafts from selected records; it does not make live AI calls or independently verify an achievement.
What changed.
Created a working personal career tool with project and win tracking, evidence links, editable career briefs, record export, and a separate portfolio with role-based case browsing and searchable interview examples. The ongoing value is a maintained record I can use in real conversations; that value is not yet expressed as a measured productivity gain.
I use AI to turn a real personal workflow into a usable product, while keeping ownership of the purpose, facts, and quality bar.
